Update February 2020

The first draft of your Neighbourhood Plan is nearing completion and the committee are now receiving informal advice from Stratford-on-Avon District Council (SDC) on the content.

The group is now focused on Local Green Spaces and is going through a process of validating the areas, identifying landowners and seeking their agreement; once these are in place the details will be included in the Neighbourhood Plan.

The Built-Up Area Boundaries for Tredington and Newbold-on-Stour have been proposed by SDC in the Site Allocations Plan (SAP) and endorsed by residents.   Planning applications within the BUAB are treated far more favourably than those outside which are only generally approved in “exceptional” circumstances.

The Group has been consulting SDC Planning Department on this aspect and they reminded the group of the following:

Local Green Space designation should only be used where the green space is:

a) in reasonably close proximity to the community it serves;

b) demonstrably special to a local community and holds a particular local significance, for example because of its beauty, historic significance, recreational value (including as a playing field), tranquillity or richness of its wildlife; and

c) local in character and is not an extensive tract of land”.

The group is organising a further public meeting, at Blackwell Village Hall in April, to seek feedback on Local Green Space designation and Valued Landscape designation,. We also need to hear from you about any other matters of concern that should be in the Plan. Date to be advised.
