The recent open meetings at Tredington and Newbold were well attended and, following analysis of the questionnaires, the group has been able to start writing the chapters of the Plan; chapters on the Local Economy and Natural Environment are well advanced.
The Housing Needs Survey has been completed and the results are expected towards the end of January.
Cllr John Gimblett and Nigel Willis met with Stratford District Council Planning staff to discuss their Site Allocation Plan. We advised them of the results of the feedback from the Newbold-on-Stour open meetings and the position of the Parish Council. All comments are being reviewed by District Council staff and we are waiting to see if the document is amended in our favour. If not, there is still a possibility that the inspector may recommend amendment before the document is finally published. The group has consistently taken the view that we must try and co-operate with the District Council as far as possible, but the views of residents should be paramount.
The site allocation plan identified three potential reserve sites in Newbold-on-Stour and one in Tredington. We sought comment from those attending the Newbold-on-Stour public meeting on those sites, all the ones that have previously had planning applications, plus an alternative site involving the extension of Middlefield Lane to the barns. All sites in both villages, bar two, were almost unanimously rejected. There was a majority in favour of nominating the small site at the north end of Newbold-on-Stour and a site next to the school in Tredington as Reserve Sites.
Green Spaces are designated areas that remain green in perpetuity and form an important part of the Neighbourhood Plan. The Newbold-on-Stour meeting asked residents to comment on a proposal to designate twelve areas as green spaces; these had very strong support. The Parish Clerk is assisting in establishing ownership and the status of these sites so that a proper survey can be carried out and evidence collected.
We have focused meetings, so far, on the two Local Service Villages. Blackwell Village Hall will be the venue for the next public meeting to facilitate views from the three hamlets to be garnered.
